World's Biggest Problems

1. People in the world not having enough food to be nourished for the day.
-Teaching agriculture to all areas of the world and support slow food movement.
2. Not having the basic medical care necessary for basic human survival.
-Implement traveling doctors on a wider scale for areas without care.
3. Prejudice and racism still existing in today's society
-Teach future generations all people are equal and our differences are what make us special.
4. Unavailability of education to all people on the Earth.
-Make education a standard and have educators move to areas where education is unavailable.
5. Women not being treated as equal citizens to men, and the prejudice against them.
-Teach future generations women are equal to men, and begin implementing women in all aspects of modern society.
6. The abuse of animals and testing on animals for human products.
-Making a law banning the use of animals to test human products, and make harsher punishments for people who abuse animals.
7. The lack of regulation for guns in the United States.
-Apply the same regulations of driving and car use, to the use of guns.
8. The abuse of workers in sweatshops and other low class work situations.
-Make modern companies pay fines and face punishments for abusing workers.
9. The major use of oil for power, as opposed to alternative energy.
-Eliminate the funding of oil companies to governments, and reward the use of alternative power.
10. The abuse of Earth and its resources, and the mistreatment of the Earth by mankind.
-Make more laws against abusing Earth's resources and harsher punishments for the laws already in place.

Week 3 Reading Reflection

A pleasant surprise for me when reading this weeks material was the author being honest and acknowledging the large amount of failure entrepreneurs can incur. The authors view on failure went to the deeper level of psychological affects the failure can have. One of my confusions was if they author felt these psychological affects and failures or if the writing was based on research. One question I have for the author is if they have any advice on incurring failure and how to stop the affects it can cause in one's entrepreneurial career. The second question I would ask is what psychological affects do success in entrepreneurship have on a person.

The story is about preventing the condition of pre-diabetes. The story proposes screening people over 45 for both type 2 diabetes, as well as high-glucose levels in the blood that pre-diabetes shows. Pre-diabetes make an individual extremely more likely to get diabetes and there is no system in place right now to help monitor pre-diabetes. One third of Americans suffer from pre-diabetes, so this affects a large portion of people.

This story is about an online accommodation service that connect travelers with people willing to rent
out their extra room or entire home. The problem given arrived when Eric Gonzales and Chris Herbert were given free tickets to a Gator football game for their service in the military. They could not find anywhere to stay and were gonna be homeless during the football weekend. Many other travelers, besides Eric and Chris suffer from this problem.

3. Driver unhappy with synching of traffic lights

This story is about drivers unhappy in Gainesville with the traffic lights on Northwest 16th Boulevard at 34th Street and 16th and 43rd streets. The lights are not long enough to support the heavy flow of traffic during rush hour. The lights are going to be monitored and worked on by the traffic department.

4. Taxpayers out $1.9 million to exit parking garage deal

This story is about the city of Gainesville backing out of a parking garage deal with local business owners. The city voted to exit the 99 year contract made in 2003, causing taxpayers to pay $1.9 million. This affects the taxpaying citizens of Gainesville, and all the residents as the city is planning on constructing a new hotel.

5. Rock Gym faces unstable ground, buoyed by locals' support
